What is Recipe Kit?
Recipe Kit is a Shopify app that lets you create, manage, and display beautiful recipes on your store. It includes recipe management, Add to Cart functionality, analytics, and SEO optimization.
Do I need coding skills to use Recipe Kit?
No. Recipe Kit is designed for non-technical users. Creating recipes, configuring settings, and customizing design can all be done through the app interface.
Does Recipe Kit work with my theme?
Recipe Kit works with all Online Store 2.0 themes (most themes published after 2021). For older themes, manual snippet installation is available.
How many recipes can I create?
All plans include unlimited recipes.
Recipe Questions
Can I import recipes from another app or website?
Currently, recipes are created manually or with AI generation. Contact support if you need help migrating from another platform.
Can I have recipes in multiple languages?
Yes. All recipe card labels can be translated. For recipe content (titles, ingredients, directions), create the recipe in your target language.
Where do recipes display on my store?
Recipes display on blog posts. To show a recipe:
- Link the recipe to a blog post
- Set recipe status to Published
- Add Recipe Kit widget to your blog post template
Can I display recipes on product pages?
No. Recipes display on blog posts, not product pages. However, you can link products to recipe ingredients for the Add to Cart feature.
Design Questions
Can I customize the recipe card appearance?
Yes. You can:
- Choose from 4 templates
- Set your brand colors
- Add custom CSS for advanced styling
- Enterprise plans include custom design work
Why does my recipe card look different than expected?
Check:
- Template selection in Settings
- Primary color setting
- Custom CSS that may be affecting display
- Browser cache (try hard refresh)
Shopping Questions
Why isn't the Add to Cart button showing?
Add to Cart requires:
- Advanced or Enterprise plan
- Feature enabled in Settings
- Ingredient linked to a product
- Product in stock and published
Can customers add all ingredients at once?
Yes, enable "Add All to Cart" in Settings (Advanced/Enterprise plans).
What happens if a product is out of stock?
Out of stock products won't show the Add to Cart button, or will show "Out of Stock" depending on your theme settings.
Analytics Questions
How long does it take for analytics to appear?
Analytics events are tracked in real-time. Dashboard data refreshes every few minutes.
Why don't I see any analytics data?
Check:
- Advanced or Enterprise plan required
- Analytics enabled in Settings
- Recipes are Published and receiving traffic
- Sufficient time has passed since publishing
Can I export analytics data?
Yes. Use the Export feature in the Analytics dashboard to download PDF reports.
Billing Questions
How am I billed for Recipe Kit?
Recipe Kit bills through Shopify's app billing system. Charges appear on your regular Shopify invoice.
Can I change plans anytime?
Yes. Upgrade immediately or downgrade at your next billing cycle.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. New users receive a 14-day free trial with full access to their selected plan's features.
What happens if I cancel?
- Access continues until billing cycle ends
- Recipes remain but widget stops displaying
- Resubscribe anytime to restore access
Technical Questions
Does Recipe Kit affect my store's speed?
Recipe Kit is optimized for performance. The widget loads asynchronously and shouldn't noticeably impact page load times.
Does Recipe Kit work with headless stores?
Yes. Enterprise plan users can access our headless API. Contact support to request your API key.
Is my recipe data backed up?
Yes. Recipe data is stored securely and backed up regularly.
SEO Questions
Does Recipe Kit help with SEO?
Yes. Recipe Kit automatically generates Google Recipe Schema markup for each recipe, enabling rich snippets in search results.
How do I verify Schema is working?
Use Google's Rich Results Test tool with your recipe page URL.
