Linking Ingredients to Products
One of Recipe Kit's most powerful features is linking ingredients to products in your store.
Why Link Products?
- Customers can add ingredients to cart directly from the recipe
- Drives additional sales
- Convenient shopping experience
How to Link
- Click the product icon next to an ingredient
- Search for the product in your store
- Select the matching product
- The ingredient now links to that product
Automatic Matching
Recipe Kit can suggest product matches based on ingredient names. Review suggestions and confirm or adjust.
Linked Ingredient Display
When viewing the recipe, linked ingredients show:
- Product image thumbnail
- "Add to Cart" button
- Current pricing (if enabled)
Ingredient Organization
Reordering Ingredients
Drag and drop ingredients to reorder them. Group similar ingredients together (dry ingredients, wet ingredients, etc.).
Ingredient Sections
For complex recipes, organize ingredients into logical groups:
- For the cake
- For the frosting
- For serving
Add section headers by using the ingredient name field for organization.
Click-to-Check Feature
When enabled in settings, customers can check off ingredients as they gather them:
- Customer views recipe
- Clicks on an ingredient
- Ingredient shows as "checked"
- Helps with shopping and prep
This feature stores state locally and persists during their session.
Add to Cart Button
Ingredients linked to products display an "Add to Cart" button. See Add to Cart Button for customization options.
Add All to Cart
Enable "Add All to Cart" to let customers add all linked ingredients at once with a single button.
Best Practices
Be Precise
- Use exact measurements, not "some" or "a little"
- Specify sizes: "1 large onion" not just "onion"
- Include weights when helpful: "1 cup (200g) sugar"
Preparation Notes
Add helpful prep info:
- "1/2 cup butter, softened"
- "2 cloves garlic, minced"
- "3 eggs, room temperature"
List in Order
List ingredients in the order they're used in directions.
Group by Section
For complex recipes, group ingredients by recipe component.
