Getting started with Recipe Kit on BigCommerce
Recipe Kit turns your recipes into recipe cards on your BigCommerce store. Shoppers can scale, print and cook from them, and add your products to their cart.
How it works
- Your recipes live in Recipe Kit. Ingredients, steps, photos, linked products and the card's look.
- One script on your storefront turns them into cards. Recipe Kit adds it to Script Manager when you install. You don't edit your theme.
- Shoppers find them in blog posts and on your Recipes page. When you edit a recipe, every page that shows it updates.
Recipe Kit works with Stencil themes. Older Blueprint themes don't run app scripts.
Step 1: Install
- Find Recipe Kit in the BigCommerce App Marketplace and choose Install.
- Approve the permissions. Recipe Kit opens in your control panel under Apps › Recipe Kit.
Your account is created from your BigCommerce login. You don't need a password. Other staff in your store can open the app too.
Step 2: Add your first recipe
The setup steps show you how. You can:
- Start from your blog. Pick a post that already has a recipe in it. Recipe Kit reads it into a card.
- Paste a recipe from a doc, an email or a caption.
- Use a link to any recipe page.
- Start blank and write it in the editor.
Step 3: Put it on your store
- Open the recipe. In the right column, under On your store, choose Publish to your blog.
- Choose New post or Existing post.
- New post makes a blog post at
/recipes/recipe-name/, with your intro, tags, search description and the recipe photo. - Existing post adds the card to the end of a post you already have. The post's own text stays as it is.
- New post makes a blog post at
- Choose View the post to see the card on your store.
Step 4: Add your Recipes page
Go to Install and choose Add the Recipes page. Shoppers get one page where they can search and filter every recipe. It goes in your store's menu. See Add a Recipes page to your store.
