BigCommerce FAQ

The recipe card doesn't show on my store

  1. Check that the recipe is published. Publishing it to your blog does this for you.
  2. Check the storefront script. In Recipe Kit, open Install. It should say On your storefront. If it doesn't, choose Install on your storefront.
  3. Check your theme. Recipe Kit works with Stencil themes. Blueprint themes don't run app scripts.
  4. Check that the post has the recipe. In the recipe editor, On your store lists every post that shows it.

Which themes and storefronts work?

Stencil themes, including Cornerstone and themes built on it. Blueprint themes don't run app scripts. Headless storefronts, including Catalyst, aren't supported yet.

Do I need to edit my theme?

No. Recipe Kit adds one script through BigCommerce's Script Manager when you install. It removes the script when you uninstall.

Can I put a recipe in a post I wrote myself?

Yes. In the recipe editor, choose Publish to your blog, then Existing post. The card goes at the end of the post, and your text stays as it is.

Can my staff use Recipe Kit?

Yes. Anyone who can open the app in your BigCommerce control panel can use it.

The app won't open in Firefox

Firefox's Enhanced Tracking Protection can block apps inside the BigCommerce control panel. Turn it off for your store's control panel, or use another browser.

Where are my recipes stored?

In Recipe Kit. Your blog posts hold a small marker that the storefront script turns into the card, so editing a recipe in Recipe Kit updates every post.
