Having trouble embedding a YouTube video in your recipe? Here's how to fix common issues.

Check Video Privacy Settings

Your YouTube video must allow embedding:

  1. Make sure the video is set to Public or Unlisted (not Private)
  2. Check that embedding isn't restricted in your YouTube video settings

Supported URL Formats

Recipe Kit supports these YouTube URL formats:

Standard URLs:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIDEO_ID

Short URLs:

https://youtu.be/VIDEO_ID

YouTube Shorts:

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/VIDEO_ID

With timestamp:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIDEO_ID&t=30
https://youtu.be/VIDEO_ID?t=30

Common Issues

Video shows "not available"

  • The video may be set to Private
  • Embedding may be disabled in the video's settings
  • The video may be region-restricted

Video doesn't load at all

  • Double-check the URL is correct
  • Try copying the URL directly from your browser's address bar
  • Make sure there are no extra spaces in the URL
