Controlling Recipe Display Order

Wherever Recipe Kit lists several recipes, such as the Related Recipes add-on, they are ordered by the publish date of the linked blog post, newest first.

So you control the order from Shopify's blog settings rather than from inside Recipe Kit.

Changing the order

1. Go to Online Store > Blog posts in your Shopify admin
2. Open the post linked to the recipe you want to move
3. In the sidebar, find Visibility
4. Click Set publish date
5. Change the date and time, then Save

A more recent date moves the recipe up the list.

Common cases

Push a recipe to the top. Set its post's publish date to today.

Push one down. Set an older date than the recipes you want above it.

Fix a specific order. Give the posts descending dates one day apart, so the first is today, the second yesterday, and so on.

Schedule one. A future publish date keeps the post hidden until then, and it arrives at the top when it goes live.

Finding the linked post

If you are not sure which post a recipe is attached to:

1. Open the recipe in Recipe Kit
2. Look at the Resources section
3. The linked blog post is listed there, and you can click through to it in Shopify

Two things to know

There is no manual sort order. Recipe Kit does not have a drag-to-reorder list. Date is the only lever, which keeps recipe order and blog order consistent rather than letting them drift apart.

Changing publish dates has SEO side effects. Search engines read the publish date as a freshness signal, and back-dating a post can affect how it is treated. Reordering a handful of recipes is harmless. Rewriting every date on your blog is not a good idea.

Recipes with no linked post do not appear in ordered lists at all, since there is no date to sort them by. Link every recipe you want listed.
